What is the METRO Foundation?

Through its foundation, METRO supports projects that work towards a more sustainable society and address societal, environmental and cultural issues for a world that feels good about its food!

The 3 pillars that guide the actions of the METRO foundation are: 

CREATE SOCIAL LINKS

We support initiatives by catering professionals or associations that help maintain or recreate social ties around meals. For the METRO foundation, this involves:

- Commit to actions that promote the integration of people in difficulty

- Bringing together generations and cultures around a meal

- Support culinary education through the introduction to good eating practices

ACT FOR FRENCH GASTRONOMIC HERITAGE

We wish to promote the creativity and know-how of those involved in gastronomy, and in particular:

- The gastronomic meal: how to preserve everything it includes, whether it is the content, the container, the know-how, the conviviality or even the art of the table

- Gastronomic heritage: this includes actions for the preservation and promotion of local and regional products, small productions, short circuits, and to contribute to the attractiveness of the regions.

THINKING ABOUT THE PLATES OF TOMORROW

We encourage those who are bringing forward new sustainable practices that are favorable to our plates of tomorrow and we support academic research related to food and meals. For this 3rd pillar oriented towards the future, the METRO endowment fund wishes to: 

- Support actions that transform our eating habits (for example, the fight against food waste, the promotion of recycling or the establishment of a circular economy)

- Support actions that transform our environment and our health (new forms of production, preservation of threatened resources, other emerging trends, etc.).
